Clearpay Information

At Mariposa Children’s Boutique, eligible UK customers can choose Clearpay at checkout and spread the cost of an order over 4 interest-free instalments across 6 weeks.

Please use Clearpay responsibly.

Clearpay is a form of credit. Credit is subject to status, eligibility, creditworthiness and affordability assessments. You must be aged 18 or over and a permanent UK resident, excluding the Channel Islands. Late fees may apply. Terms and conditions apply.

What Is Clearpay?

Clearpay is a payment service provided by Clearpay Finance Limited. It allows eligible customers to purchase an item now and pay for it in 4 equal, interest-free instalments over 6 weeks.

From 15 July 2026, new Clearpay Plans became regulated credit agreements under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Clearpay Finance Limited is deemed authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority for the purposes of the Temporary Permission regime for Regulated Deferred Payment Credit.

Clearpay Plans entered into before 15 July 2026 remain unregulated and do not receive the protections applying to new regulated plans.

How Does Clearpay Work?

Simply shop on our website and proceed to checkout as normal:

  1. Add your chosen items to your basket.
  2. Proceed to the checkout.
  3. Select Clearpay as your payment method.
  4. You will be redirected to Clearpay to complete your application and confirm your order.
  5. If you already have a Clearpay account, log in and follow the instructions provided.

Clearpay will show your payment amount, payment schedule, relevant fees and important information about your agreement before you confirm your purchase.

Approval is not guaranteed. Clearpay is responsible for deciding whether a customer is eligible to use its service.

Who Can Use Clearpay?

To apply to use Clearpay, you must:

  • Be aged 18 years or over.
  • Be a permanent UK resident, excluding the Channel Islands.
  • Have a valid UK billing address.
  • Have an eligible payment card.
  • Meet Clearpay’s status, eligibility, creditworthiness and affordability requirements.

Additional criteria may apply. Customers with an international billing address will not normally be able to create a UK Clearpay account or use Clearpay through our website.

Does Clearpay Carry Out Credit Checks?

Clearpay carries out creditworthiness and affordability assessments to determine whether customers can afford to repay a Clearpay Plan.

As part of these assessments, Clearpay may:

  • Carry out a soft credit check, which does not affect your credit score.
  • Review information held by Credit Reference Agencies.
  • Ask you to confirm information about your income, expenses or financial circumstances.
  • Share relevant personal information with Credit Reference Agencies to help make lending decisions.

A soft credit check is normally visible to you but not to other lenders.

How Are Payments Scheduled?

Clearpay normally divides your order total into 4 equal instalments, payable over 6 weeks.

Your exact instalment amounts and payment dates will be displayed by Clearpay before you enter into the agreement.

Payments are collected automatically from the payment card connected to your Clearpay account. You may also be able to make an early payment through your Clearpay account or app.

Please ensure that you can afford every scheduled payment before completing your order.

Is Clearpay Interest Free?

Clearpay’s Pay in 4 service remains interest free when payments are made in accordance with your agreed payment schedule.

Late fees may apply when an instalment is not paid on time.

What Happens if I Miss a Payment?

If you miss an instalment, Clearpay may charge:

  • A £6 fee when a payment is missed.
  • A further £6 fee if the payment remains unpaid after 7 days.

For orders under £24, late fees are capped at £6. For orders of £24 or more, late fees are capped at the lower of £24 or 25% of the purchase price.

If payments remain unpaid, Clearpay may:

  • Report missed payments to Credit Reference Agencies.
  • Restrict or suspend your Clearpay account.
  • Decline future applications for Clearpay Plans.
  • Refer an unpaid balance to a debt collection agency.
  • Close your account in certain circumstances.

Missed payments could affect your ability to access credit in the future or make future borrowing more expensive.

If you are experiencing financial difficulty, contact Clearpay directly as soon as possible to discuss the support that may be available.

What Consumer Protections Apply?

Customers entering into a regulated Clearpay Plan from 15 July 2026 benefit from additional UK consumer-credit protections. These include:

  • Clear information about the amount borrowed, repayment amounts, payment dates, possible late fees and customer rights.
  • Creditworthiness and affordability assessments before credit is provided.
  • A 14-day right to withdraw from a new Clearpay Plan.
  • Support from Clearpay when experiencing financial difficulty.
  • The right to complain to Clearpay and refer an eligible unresolved complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
  • Section 75 protection for eligible purchases costing more than £100.

Section 75 protection is subject to the requirements of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and will not apply to every transaction or claim.

What if I Have a Complaint About Clearpay?

If your complaint concerns your Clearpay account, application, payment schedule, affordability assessment, late fee or credit agreement, you should contact Clearpay directly first.

If Clearpay does not resolve an eligible complaint to your satisfaction, you may be able to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

If your complaint concerns an item purchased from Mariposa Children’s Boutique, your delivery or a return, please contact us directly.

Is There a Clearpay Spending Limit?

Clearpay applies minimum and maximum transaction limits. Your available spending amount may vary and is determined by Clearpay.

Clearpay may consider factors including:

  • Your Clearpay account history.
  • Your previous payment history.
  • Your outstanding Clearpay commitments.
  • The value of the order.
  • Information obtained through affordability and creditworthiness assessments.
  • Whether you are a new or existing Clearpay customer.

A displayed spending amount does not guarantee that a particular order or Clearpay Plan will be approved.

Can I Use Discount Codes with Clearpay?

Eligible promotional codes and discounts can be applied before selecting Clearpay at checkout, subject to the terms of the promotion.

The final order total shown at checkout will be the amount submitted to Clearpay.

Returns and Refunds with Clearpay

Orders placed using Clearpay are subject to our standard returns policy, including any exclusions relating to made-to-order, personalised, final-sale or non-returnable items.

If your return is accepted:

  • We will process the approved refund through the original Clearpay transaction.
  • Clearpay may adjust or cancel future instalments.
  • Payments already collected may be refunded to the payment card associated with your Clearpay account.

Refunds are managed by Clearpay after we submit the approved refund. The time taken for the funds to appear may depend on Clearpay and your card provider.

Until your return has been received and processed by us, you remain responsible for making payments according to your Clearpay payment schedule.

Do not stop making scheduled payments unless Clearpay confirms that your payment schedule has been changed.
